2nd quarter report - May to june 2026
We are delighted to share an update on just some of the projects we have been working on this quarter.
EYE CAMPS
Working alongside our partners on the ground and with the help of our generous supporters, we have been able to facilitate eye camps throughout April, May and June. This has resulted in over 1,700 cataract surgeries taking place.
These life changing surgeries are vital in aiding the needy across rural areas of Kenya, Tanzania and Pakistan.
Sponsor an eye surgery today for only £44 ($60)!
WATER WELLS
Lack of access to safe and clean drinking water is the number one crisis worldwide, and BCT continue to commission water wells in locations that have dire need.
In Quarter 2, BCT have commissioned another 7 wells! Providing clean safe water in areas that have water shortages and unsafe drinking water.
Further wells are available in:
Kenya at $1,800
Tanzania at $2,500
Pakistan at £850 water tank well (dug to between 150 - 190 metres)
£1,110 medium water tank well (dug to between 350 - 500 metres)
£1,450 large water tank well (dug 500 metres +)
£175 hand pump
COMMUNITY HOT MEALS
Chakama, located in Kilifi County, Kenya is one of the most marginalized areas in the county. The location comprises of 48 villages where over 6,000 households have for many years been neglected. Families live in extreme poverty and due to this, chronic hunger is rampant which seriously challenges development and life. BCT and our critical supporters have initiated the Hot Meals project, where, over a period of 12 weeks, meals were provided for over 500 people. The next chapter of this hot meals campaign runs from July to September.

KIJANA KWANZA
Kijana Kwanza is a child and youth development charity, supporting orphaned and abandoned street children.
Beta Charitable Trust are proud to continue our partnership as we match fund their latest appeal, supporting the Chicken Expansion Campaign, where an additional 1,000 chicks will join the poultry farm.
Every child who arrives at Kijana Kwanza is malnourished, making access to nutritious food essential. Eggs are especially valuable as they are rich in protein and vital nutrients and help keep children satisfied and focused throughout the school day.
EDUCATION
We are excited to announce that the school extension and repair projects we have been working on in Pakistan alongside our partners JBHT are complete and the schools have reopened to students.
Around 5,000 children from extremely poor families, the majority of whom are girls, will have access to school and a quality education which would otherwise not be available to them.

ANAMIL AL RAHMA
Education is a vital part of building vibrant, equal and sustainable communities. Since our inception, Beta Charitable Trust has prioritised access to education by constructing schools in under priligeged communities, providing safe and supportive learning environments for children who previously had limited or no access to formal education.
We have been supporting the Anamil Al Rahma school since 2016 and the 200 students are predominately orphans of war.
We are proud to be continuing our partnership with the sponsorship of 27 students. However, 80 under privilaged students are still without support. The new computer suite has just opened and the school does not have funds for 20 laptops which are required.
