KASHMIR HOUSING

After a visit to Srinager, Kashmir in Northern India, we found an astounding need for housing for families in dire need.

Living conditions in Kashmir, known for it’s long and harsh winters, are often very tough with families living in cramped huts with thin plastic sheeted walls. Toilets and showering facilities are non existent with families using grounds outside. The Beta Charitable Trust built 7 houses in 2025, and 7 in 2026.

We have been requested to build housing for another 12 deserving families living in these dreadful conditions. Work is due to start in August as the winters are harsh with freezing rain and snow.

CASE STUDY

One family identified was widow Begum, who is handicapped and has been bedridden for 5 years. Her home collapsed due to excessive rains, and she was living in a rental house. She has 3 children, and her eldest sons monthly income is spent on medicine and care for his mother.

Donate

Through the generosity of a very kind donor, Beta Charitable Trust was able to facilitate a purpose built house for widow Begum and her 3 children.
