1st Quarter report - January to end march 2025
We are delighted to share an update on just some of the projects we have been working on this quarter.
STRIVING AGAINST STARVATION 2026
828 million people worldwide are undernourished and exist on less than £1 per day
Quarter 1 saw the launch of BCT's annual Food Parcel Campaign. Running from February to April, SAS 26 provides food aid to the poorest and most deprived communities throughout the world as well the United Kingdom.
For just £12 you can provide a family of four with a food parcel for a week - that's just £1 for a substantial daily meal for a family of four.
The first phase of distributions of food aid to the poor are complete, and over 6,000 food parcels were delivered. Images below show this wonderful work taking place.
EYE CAMPS
Working alongside our partners on the ground and with the help of our generous supporters, we have been able to facilitate eye camps throughout January, February and March. This has resulted in over 2,100 cataract surgeries taking place.
These life changing surgeries are vital in aiding the needy across rural areas of Kenya Tanzania and Pakistan.
Give the gift of sight and sponsor an eye surgery today for only $60!
WATER WELLS
Lack of access to safe and clean drinking water is the number one crisis worldwide, and BCT continue to commission water wells in locations that have dire need.
In Quarter 1, BCT have already commissioned 15 wells, providing clean safe water in areas that have water shortages and unsafe drinking water.
Further wells are available in:
Kenya at $1,800
Tanzania at $2,500
Pakistan at £850 water tank well (dug to between 150 - 190 metres)
£1,110 medium water tank well (dug to between 350 - 500 metres)
£1,450 large water tank well (dug 500 metres +) and £175 hand pump
LAMU TUKTUK AMBULANCE PROJECT
Our dedicated donors supported a life changing project in Lamu, Kenya. Many women are unable to reach hospital facilities due to long distances and poor road infrastructure. Conventional ambulances often unavailable due to high costs. This lack of reliable transport has led to preventable maternal and neonatal deaths.
Our donors supported the conversion of a tuktuk into an ambulance. This project was developed to address the urgent need for accessible, affordable and reliable emergency transport in rural and under served communities.
LAMU BOYS PRIMARY SCHOOL LIBRARY
The Lamu Boys Primary School is the oldest school in Lamu County. Recognizing the urgent need to strengthen learning resources, our supporters were delighted to sponsor a modern library at the school. A dedicated room was revamped and wiring and fittings were installed, including furniture, books, smart TV screens and computers.
A huge thank you to our very generous supporters.
COMMUNITY HOT MEALS
Chakama, located in Kilifi County, Kenya is one of the most marginalized areas in the county. The location comprises of 48 villages where over 6,000 households are for many years been neglected. Families live in extreme poverty and due to this, chronic hunger is rampant which seriously challenges development and life. BCT and our critical supporters have initiated the Hot Meals project, where, over a period of 12 weeks, meals were provided for over 500 people. The next chapter of this hot meals campaign runs from April to June.

Chakama School Classroom Renovation
Beta Charitable Trust is proud to have built Chakama Secondary school, which is the only secondary school serving all 48 villages in Chakama. During the Covid 19 pandemic, BCT supported the construction of two additional classrooms to ensure continuity of education. Recently, the classrooms needed urgent repairs including:
Repair of floors and windows
Installation of doors and windows to improve security, ventilation and durability
Repainting of the walls

We look forward to sharing more education updates in Quarter 2 as additional schools are constructed for the underprivileged communities across the world, with our latest projects in Skardu.
KASHMIR HOUSING
Living conditions in Kashmir, known for it’s long and harsh winters, are extremely tough for the poor. Many families live in cramped huts with only thin plastic/corrugated sheeted walls. Toilets and showering facilities are non existent and families use what they can in grounds outside. BCT have built 17 modern houses for widows and poor families, with another 6 commissioned.
Photos below show the incredible before and after photos of houses that have been built.
