This year, BCT’s SAS2020 exceeded expectations and we contributed a total of £147,617 and provided over 4000 food parcels. Thanks to the amazing work of our partners on the ground, we were able to provide aid to the poorest and most deprived in the United Kingdom as well as in hard-to-reach areas of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Pakistan, Sierra Leone, Syria, Tanzania, Yemen and many more.

With Covid-19 causing devastation around the world, those living under the breadline are at a huge risk due the lack of basic amenities, including food and medical aid. BCT therefore pledged, as part of this year's SAS appeal, to provide vital medical aid to those who are suffering the most during this dangerous pandemic.

As always, we are indebted to our partners on the ground, who have continued their hard work during these troubling times.

WHAT IS STRIVING AGAINST STARVATION?

According to the WHO, 821 million people are undernourished and live on less than £1 a day; that's 1 in 9 of the world's population!

Every 3.6 seconds, a child dies due to hunger and 805 million people are still living with chronic persistent hunger on a daily basis.

Striving Against Starvation, running from April to June, aims to provide aid to the poorest and most deprived in the United Kingdom as well as in hard-to-reach areas of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Benin, Chad, Guinea-Bissau, India, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Syria, Tanzania and Yemen. It’s a big project, and it’s one we can’t carry out without your help.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

For just £6, you can provide a family of four with a food parcel for one whole week.  A typical food parcel includes oil, rice, wheat, flour, sugar, tea etc.

In 2019 alone, we donated just over £80,000. This year, we hope you exceed this and reach £100,000; a goal only possible with your help. Any donation will go a long way in helping us provide relieve to thousands of families affected by this global pandemic.
