We're making progress! (Nov 2018)

It is estimated that over 46% of the Kenyan population live below the poverty line of $1 a day.

As you can imagine, education does not take precedence when you are trying to keep your family alive on a pittance.

These challenges have forced children living in extreme poverty to be locked out of education.

Benzaro is one such village, located within Kenya’s Kilifi County, one of the poorest of the 47 counties in Kenya. The ECD (Kindergarten) children have for years walked long distances to study in a collapsing mud structure, seated on the bare floor without furniture, books or stationary.

Literacy amongst the community is very, very low.

Therefore, BCT are building classrooms in Benzaro; beginning with the construction of two low-cost nursery level classrooms for early child development, plus a vital toilet facility.

Thereafter, there is an intention to progress to building a primary school, one classroom at a time, until a fully-fledged school has been built.

Work has started on the ECD classrooms which BCT has pledged to support. Foundations are currently ongoing and construction material has begun arriving at the site.

We need your help to be able to continue this work. Any funding received will go a long way in not only the construction of the school facilities, but also providing better education prospects for so many young children.
