| Sindh Rebuilds After The Worst Floods In Its History |
|
In 2011 Sindh endured some of the worst floods the region has ever experienced. This beautiful province of Pakistan has been plagued with severe floods before but none as destructive and life destroying as this one. The rains fell harder and harder and showed no signs of relenting for most of August 2011. An appeal was sent out which most, including Beta Charitable Trust, responded to swiftly with hopeful results. But no amount of money will ever be able to undue the damage to the natural environment caused by this natural disaster. The rains have since stopped in Sindh and dry weather has followed. Unfortunately due to the poor infra-structure of many cities, rain water has still not been able to drain away completely and many of the streets still remain submerged in water. Not only has the water blocked streets and trading routes, but it has also brought skin diseases, malaria and various other infections with it .Even with all these hurdles, the people of Sindh are determined to bring their drenched region back to its former natural beauty. But they need help.
To date, Beta Charitable Trust has since sent over $5000 worth of food rations, $3000 worth of plastic sheets and $3000 worth of mosquito nets to help the relieve the people of Sindh ($3 per net and $3 per plastic sheet). The money has been pooled together with other charities who have contributed in order to maximize resources. The money has been used for Medical Relief Camps, Food rations, Distribution Of Food, Providing Clothes, Bedding, Tents and Mosquito Nets. These items are vital necessities for people caught up in the destruction that is left in the wake of flooding. But if these resources are not readily available or affordable then they become precious commodities in rebuilding a city. Sindh has gotten over the worst of the floods. Now she must rebuild with the help of her citizens and generous well wishers. You can help the Sindh flood cause by clicking this link and downloading our donation form. |
