| Medical Ventilator Fully Operational In Al Mahdi Hospital |
|
Earlier this year we appealed to our donors to help us supply a medical centre with essential equipment. The medical centre is called Al Mahdi Hospital and is located in Mianwali, a picturesque city in Pakistan steeped in history with sights that tourists flock to in an attempt to take in all its beauty. Like other small cities in Pakistan, its overwhelming struggles include poverty, unemployment, inadequate facilities for quality education and insufficient health coverage. Mianwali is home to around 85,000 people. thirty eight percent have access to private medical care which comes at a massive cost. For the rest of the city's citizens, government facilities are available for their use. However, these are overcrowded and do not carry up to date medical equipment or offer modern procedures. The Al Mahdi hospital was designed to fill the gap between the Government and Private hospitals. The Al Mahdi hospital was established in June, 1997 and initially started by providing a general out patients service. Since then and with the help of donations and hard work, the hospital has grown and improved significantly and is now a 20 bed hospital. It operates around the clock and all kinds of medical emergencies are taken care of. Patients can use the Al Mahdi hospital safe in the knowledge that it has the precision , efficiency and comfort of a private hospital and is as cost free as a government hospital. Al Mahdi hospital has expanded further and is now providing neurosurgery. The new department was urgently in need of new equipment and an appeal was made to Beta Charitable Trust for immediate help. Our donors quickly responded, helping us to raise enough money to buy a ventilator for the hospital. This equipment is vital for a patient’s progress and survival. The ventilator is a breathing apparatus used for patients who cannot breathe or have difficulty breathing by themselves. The machine takes over the air flow that enters the body and regulates it to keep the patient breathing and therefore alive. The machine also doubles up as an anesthetic gas machine for patients undergoing surgery. We at Beta Charitable Trust hope the hospital can grow even further and continue providing care and support for the people of its city . d. |
