| Sachek Medical Clinic Still Saving Lives |
|
We have had our two monthly report from the Sachek Medical clinic. They have seen an astonishing 317 patients in the last two months and have treated assessed and cured many in that time. The medical clinic was and still is designed for drop in cases, this means that ordinary citizens can go along and discuss problems and symptoms with doctors and get advice on treatment and prevention.
The work carried out here is very important. Many people travel for many miles to visit the clinic; this is the case for quite a few people. One of our reports held a comment from a doctor who was annoyed one of his patients had to travel so far to get basic medical help, without which he would have got worse and died. Your continued support on this project is so greatly appreciated by those that benefit and those who get the chance to help benefit. Below are graphs that give you an indication of what diseases, illness and injuries were treated and how many suffered with them.
The graph above shows the more painful and life threatening illness and conditions that were experienced by our medical staff in Sachek. Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (P.I.D): PID usually relates to the affected organ. It can begin with a bacterial or viral infection that can quickly lead to intense pain. Sufferers age between 20 and 60 years of age, although it has been known to affect younger people, mainly female. Tonsillitis: Commonly associated with a few days off school, some ice cream and a lot of sympathy from doctors and parents alike. But what if you have to travel three hours just to have it diagnosed? This is exactly why the clinic is here, the cases of tonsillitis you see above are from 20 years and below. Gastritis: This condition is one of the most excruciating pains, it has been known to make you feel utterly useless against the pain, much like toothache or earache only much, much worse. The treatments are fairly straight forward and unless the condition is Chronic Gastritis, it will only last a short while. If treatment is not taken then the condition can go on for weeks, months and in some cases years. Acute Respiratory Infection (A.R.I) This infection is among the leading causes for death in under 5 year olds. Diagnosis and attribution are difficult and sometimes uncertain. It is responsible for between 1.9 million and 2.2million childhood deaths globally, 42% of these deaths are located in Africa alone. Affecting every one of all ages, mortality rates are highest for children. Information obtained from www.wikipedia.com |
