Our very own Lyndsey Barclay has broken her personal record and managed to raise a gracious £260.00 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Over 600 people entered the bike race that would raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Research, the race covered a massive round trip around Colchester counting 75 miles in distance. The support given by family, friends and passersby was immense and really spurred the racers on.

Despite the support and cheers, the 75 mile race got the better of some and by the end of the race under 30 had made it to the 75 mile mark. One of determined 30 was Lyndsey Barclay, who not only finished the race, but managed to raise a fantastic £260.00. The funds raised came from friends, family and BCT donors, who all also helped make a massive difference on this day.

When asked about the race Lyndsey describes her struggle and how she managed to keep going despite suffering an injury:

"After starting at 8:30am I felt like I was ready for anything, nervous as I was I still really wanted to finish the race, raise money for a good cause and prove to myself I can complete such an awesome task"

"I have to admit that by mile 40 i wanted to give up, Essex is full of so many hills! I had a major cramp in my leg at this point and really felt like i couldn't go on. I had a lot of support from family and friends while i was there which helped me put the effort in for the last stretch of ride"
