BCT Support PARC Charity In Braintree, Essex

The day looked promising as the clouds parted and gave way to a few precious rays of sun. As I arrive, the inflatable's, food and various other fun activities were being set up. I do my best to help arrange the fun day, but end up just getting in the way, so I chat to the staff and parents who have come to help as well.

All staff involved in the day were dressed up, enthusiastic and mighty cold. I was surprised and impressed to discover that 90% of the staff are aged between 17-21 years, all of which are either completing or have completed a Child Care And Support degree level 2-3. The employees understood and recognised each child's difficulties, be it physical or mental and worked according to each individuals needs.

The day was packed with many activities for the children to enjoy. Each activity there had been donated by local companies in support of spreading the name and good will of PARC.

The children had inflatable's and games to play on, each cost one token and one token cost £2. This money goes straight into PARC, who in turn will use it to provide these children with the education and social surroundings they need and deserve. The project is widely supported by parents who have noticed a lack of disabled child care in Essex.

PARC (Play And Resource Centre) was founded in 1995 by a group of parents with have disabled children. The idea of PARC was to provide a safe and fun environment for their children to play and learn in. The PARC Centre is just what they had hoped it would be, it is safe, fun and there is an exceptional amount of educational materials designed for the needs of the children. The centre is open all year round, day through till night. Their main source of funding is via donations, fund raising days and constant support from their regular donors.

Our donors at Beta Charitable Trust helped us raise £800 for the charities fun day. This donation had a massive impact on the PARC staff,  who had all worked so  incredibly hard to ensure the day was fun and enjoyable and that maximum amounts of much needed funds were raised. Their target of £1600 was half met by our donors. The charity battled through the elements on the day and managed to raise a fantastic, £3000! Of which, every penny will go into PARC so they can continue doing essential and necessary work to make the lives of these young children more enjoyable.
