The Ramadhan Relief Fund is The World Federation’s primary campaign to bring respite to individuals and families who are affected by poverty, natural disaster or war to make the month of Ramadhan a little easier so that they too can enjoy and partake in the spirituality and blessings of this month.
Last year, The World Federation worked in over 22 countries including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bosnia, Gaza, Haiti, India, Iraq, Kenya, Lebanon, Madagascar, Myanmar, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Syria, Tanzania, Uganda and the United Kingdom. They were able to distribute $1.6 million USD in various forms of aid including food baskets, iftaars, monetary assistance and debt relief.
This year, The World Federation received a sum of £5,000 from Beta Charitable Trust to be spent on the Ramadhan Relief Program. With this money, food aid was provided to 937 families in the Gaza strip. The World Federation contributed a total of 1,165 sacks of rice which was included in food parcels and distributed to abject poor (subsisting on less than USD $1.50 per person per day) and absolute poor (subsisting on less than USD $3.65 per person per day) refugee families in need in Gaza. Beta Charitable Trust sponsored 937 of the 1,165 sacks of rice. Each food parcel contained flour, rice, sugar, sunflower oil, milk powder and canned meat.
We are grateful to the World Federation for their continued efforts around the world to relieve poverty.
